Making a Reservation
Event requests must be submitted through the Event Management System (EMS). Reservations are not confirmed until you receive an official confirmation email. Please note that events cannot be confirmed more than six months in advance.
Rooms 1116, 1117, 1118, and Atrium
Georgia Tech faculty, staff, and students can reserve Marcus 1116, 1117, 1118, and/or the Atrium for official Georgia Tech events.
Meeting Rooms
The meeting rooms can be reserved in the following configurations:
Open U
Capacity:
- Room 1116: 24
- Rooms 1117-1118: 32
Classroom
Capacity:
- Room 1116: 24
- Room 1117-1118: 90
- Rooms 1116-1118: 98
Theater
Capacity:
- Room 1116: 35
- Rooms 1117-1118: 35
- Rooms 1116-1118: 165
The Atrium
- Capacity varies based upon event type. Contact ims-building@gatech.edu for details.
- Up to 10 six-foot round tables and 10 highboy tables are available upon request. Please include these in your EMS reservation.
- Event hosts are responsible for providing additional items such as linens, easels, posters, and extension cords.
Space Equipment and Policies
AV Capabilities
- Marcus 1116, 1117, and 1118 include projector screens, wireless handheld and lavalier microphones, slide presenters, laptop connections, and HD cameras. These rooms can support live streaming.
- The atrium does not include AV equipment.
- Event hosts are responsible for arranging AV staffing.

Food and Catering
- Events must follow Georgia Tech policies, including the Catering Providers Policy and the Campus Alcohol Policy.
- The Marcus Atrium is a public space; please be aware that passerby may take event food. Assign staff to monitor food if needed.
- We participate in the Green Forks Initiative, a campus program that provides event food leftovers to students facing food insecurity. To donate leftovers, contact the Green Forks team at https://dining.gatech.edu/greenforks
- We can provide up to five 6’ tables for food staging (and for sign-in stations, swag pickup, etc).
- Event hosts are responsible for cleanup after the event, including food disposal and waste removal.
Reservation Changes
When submitting your EMS reservation, you will be asked to select a room setup. If you need to change your setup (e.g., from Open U to Classroom), please update your EMS reservation at least two business days before the event. Requests made with less than two business days’ notice may require your group to assist with the setup.
Special Requests
If you need a custom not listed in EMS, contact ims-building@gatech.edu to discuss the request. Please do not move furniture, chairs, or wall partitions.
